May 2025 – Ride Report
Sydney Ride Report: Sunday 4th May – Ocean Beach Hotel – Shellharbour – 3 committee, 9 members, 1 guest
We had a fantastic start to our ride clear blue skies though once again slightly chilly as we head into the cooler months of the year. Another great turnout 12 riders including two new members. It was great to see Bob and Gayle on the ride once again. Thanks to our buddy, who looked after our new L plater. It made me feel a lot more at ease knowing she was in great hands. The ride down to Thirlmere Railway Museum was amazingly easy, with only one missed corner marker, and no-one getting lost. This was our first regroup point where a member from Wollongong, joined us for the rest of our ride. After a short break and a chance to check on our L plater and pass on some tips, (don’t leave your lights on) I went back to start my motorcycle and low and behold I had done exactly what I has said not to, so my battery was flat. Thanks to the guys for getting it started again.
On we went through the villages along Wilson way, and past the Mittagong Airport and on to Range Road. On of our group members had other commitments and had to return home at this point. The rest of the group continued onto Kangaloon Rd, Sheepwash Rd and the Illawarra Highway to Robertson Pie Shop. A good chance to catchup and have a quick coffee and snack. Helen decided to head home from this point too bloody cold.
The rest of the group then made our way down through the Jamberoo Valley via Jamberoo Mountain Road. We had a quick regroup before getting into Jamberoo, as the group split into three sections due to the traffic lights working on Jamberoo Mountain Rd due to the road repairs and then continued to our destination at Shellharbour. Arriving remarkably close to our expected lunch booking time we all managed to get our meals very quickly even though the Ocean beach Hotel was very busy. There was a lot of laughter amongst the conversation at the table.
