SUMMARY:June GRO Ride – 2nd June\, 2024 - Settlers Arms Inn\, St Albans
DESCRIPTION:Join all the GRO crew for an interesting ride through Sydney’s big river country. \nOur route will take us over two ferries and include a stop at the Stonehouse Café to stretch our legs and a chance to warm up with a hot drink before we continue our ride north to St Albans.  It’s a longer ride in terms of time but a lovely winding route through some great countryside\, possibly some Sydney roads you’ve never travelled before\, and of course the ferries that give this ride its name. \nIf time permits\, we will stop to take in the view from Hawkins Lookout before reaching Wisemans Ferry. If time is not on our side\, I suggest that you take the time to stop on your way back home as the view is fantastic. \n** NOTE: This is a 9:20am departure ** \nEveryone is welcome. \nPlease let us know if you are new to riding\, or want a buddy for the ride.  Feel free to bring friends! \n  \nRIDE DETAILS \nDate: Sunday 2nd June\, 2024 \nMeet: Coles Express\, 955 Pacific Highway\, BEROWRA \nDestination: Settlers Arms Inn\, 1 Wharf Road\, ST ALBANS \nTime: Meet by 9.00am\, ready for 9.20am departure briefing. \nRegroup points: Each ferry crossing and at the Stonehouse Café \nRoute map: (TO BE CONFIRMED) https://maps.app.goo.gl/4zbTrpRz3tTcdEx48 \nRide route: Approx 95km & 2 hours to lunch destination + Stops \nWhy not take the time and indicate you are going by clicking the ‘going’ button on the Facebook Event Listing. (There’s also a Petrolettes rally on 1 June listed there) \nRide route details: \nDepart Coles Express Berowra and ride down to Berowra Waters Ferry (Regroup Point 1)\nContinue on Bay Rd\, turning right onto Arcadia Rd\, turn right at Wylds Rd\, turn right on Old Northern Rd\, turn left on Catti Ridge Rd\, turn right on Halcrows Road\, turn right on Wisemans Ferry Rd\, after 12 kms our morning tea stop\, Stonehouse Café\, will be on the right (Regroup Point 2). Grab a Drink\, have a chat & stretch your legs. We get going again in around 30 minutes. \nContinue North along Wisemans Ferry Road for 4.5 km then turn left onto Old Northern Rd continuing for 11km’s. At the bottom of the mountain at Wisemans Ferry we turn left onto River Rd and then right onto the Webbs Creek Ferry (Regroup Point 3). \nWe continue straight along St Albans Rd for 20km the turn right over the bridge and onto Wollombi Rd after 350m our lunch destination the Settlers Arms Inn will be on the right. \nEven though we have a great corner marker system in place\, it’s still easy to become lost so make yourself aware of the route.\nNew to the Group? Look out for committee members who can answer any questions you may have.\nLearner or Shy? We can find you a buddy for the day if you’d like – someone you can follow for tips or who’ll follow you to give feedback. \n*** If the weather looks inclement check Facebook around 8am to see if the ride has been cancelled *** \n  \nRIDING WITH GIRLS RIDE OUT \nGRO Rides are L&P Friendly if you have any questions or need someone to buddy you for the ride come see a committee member. Please feel free to invite your friends to join us\, everyone is welcome as long as they treat our group with respect and follow our simple guidelines. \nIf you’re not a financial member of GRO we simply ask that you sign our waiver or you can take up or renew your membership on the day which will cover 2024\, in the morning before we set off. \nAt our Lunch destination it’s a great opportunity for the new riders to meet other riders and perhaps group up for the ride home. \nWe encourage everyone who participates in GRO rides to takes a minute to read the following. There are a few simple things that we as a group attempt to do to make everyone’s day as safe and enjoyable as possible. \nIf you have attended a GRO ride you will know that the Ride leader will always have a briefing before ride departure. There is important information specific to the ride given\, so please give your undivided attention during this time. \nCORNER MARKING/ TAIL END RIDER – This is where the Ride Leader will point to a corner and the Rider Immediately behind the Lead pulls over and clearly indicates to the group which direction to go. Once the TAIL END rider in Orange comes along\, they will wave you on to rejoin the ride ahead of them. Do not leave your corner until you see the tail rider waving you on\, you won’t miss them. Don’t feel [pressured to be a corner marker however\, it is your responsibility to ensure you don’t find yourself behind the Ride Leader. \nOVERTAKING – Riders are not required to make their way back to the front for the purpose of corner marking. If you overtake slower riders within the group\, please do so safely and legally. Under no circumstance is a rider to pass another on their left side. \nIf you intend to leave the Group ride at any stage\, let someone know your intentions so we don’t send a search party. \nPlease make yourselves familiar with the ride route prior to attending. It makes it easier and less stressful if you know where you are going. Please make sure you have a full tank of fuel before leaving the meet point. \nPlease feel free to invite your friends to join us. Everyone is welcome as long as they treat our group with respect and follow our group guidelines. \nGeneral ride information. \nPlease make sure you have a full tank of fuel before leaving the meet point. \nPlease wear safety gear including helmet\, gloves\, jackets\, boots and long pants. \nWe always have a lead rider\, tail rider and corner markers. \nPlease make yourself aware of the route prior to attending. If you would like an experienced buddy for the ride\, let us know\, it is what we do. \nAll riders and pillions are welcome.
